He had planned to put in in the shed outside to store rakes, shovels, etc. However, when I heard his plan, I protested, saying that I could do something clever with it indoors. He and his parents still laugh that I wanted to keep it.
I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with it. I've used it as a bedside table in our bedroom, but now that I found real bedside tables, I had to move it. Currently, it is holding our brand new Waterford China that we don't have room to put anywhere else.
Any suggestions?
I do know I don't want to cover up the original Lenox label.
Oh fun! I have no idea what to do with it but I can't wait to see how you use it! What a neat little extra for your house - I love it and agree that you shouldn't cover the Lenox sign!
ReplyDeleteMaybe create like a tube (encase it in flexible wood) up to the ceiling with light 'half shelves' to showcase china? But leaving the Lenox sign visible (you could even heighten it to more eye-catching level by propping up under it). I have no idea how to practically construct the thing, but it's what first popped into my head. Fun!!
ReplyDeleteHmm, tough question.
ReplyDeleteI immediatly thought storage for blanket, pillow or such.
Since it is already storage for you I think I would just cover all but the lable with something. Maybe old sheet music, decorative tissue, newsprint or catalog prints of dishes?
Good luck.
I love that thing. My mother, my sister, and I all have a dish addiction! I wouldn't cover the drum. I'd have a top made for it.....perhaps covered in a dish-print fabric with a glass top over it and use it as a side table somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThats cool! Im glad you saved it. I can't wait to see what you decide to do with this, Im sure that you'll so something clever though. you could make it into a table lamp or a hat rack by putting a hole in the middle and adding to the top or keep it as a storage for your dishes like you are doing and just make it a serving table. it could probably go in any room though. very cool!!
